About

My name is Dominic and I live in Northeastern Ohio on the Pennsylvania border. There are many beautiful areas to photograph here including Mill Creek Park in Youngstown, Ohio and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park near Cleveland, Ohio as well as the mountainous areas of eastern Pennsylvania such as the Allegheny Forest area.

I have an art degree from Youngstown State University where I became interested in and concentrated my art studies on photography. After college, I worked for a number of years as a commercial photographer and had the privilege of attending the Winona School of Professional Photography where I learned view camera techniques which I put to use in both product and architectural photography.

I later started my own business as a portrait/wedding/school photographer and had a studio, Creative Images, in Hubbard, Ohio.

I am now retired and enjoy traveling to different areas to photograph landscapes and other artistic scenes that I process in Lightroom, Photoshop, and Corel Painter.  To me, processing the final image is as rewarding as finding an awesome composition that is beautifully lit that I can capture the essence of and share with others who admire and appreciate the beauty that is all around us as I do.

I work mostly in color using a Canon Rebel T2i and a Canon 40D, both with a Tamron 18 – 250mm lens.  In the “old days” I used Nikon 35mm roll film cameras and loved shooting black and white.  I even went as far as buying my own 4” x 5” View camera to learn the Zone System developed by Ansel Adams.  I recently purchased a Canon M50 Mark II mirrorless camera that I’m having converted to Full Spectrum for shooting both in the visible and infrared light spectrum.

I am looking forward to being able to share both my experiences and my knowledge of photography. I’m planning to add a blog to this website so I can discuss photographs and specific techniques in both IR and color photography.
